Summary

With the commissioning of the second liquefaction train of the Yemen LNG project in 2010, the total capacity has reached 9.1 bcm/y which should boost LNG exports. The government has also launched several projects to secure the electricity supply in the country.

Whereas Yemen’s capacity is increasing, the Middle East experienced a substantial cut in its primary production. However, despite its surplus reduced by 10% the Middle East remained the world’s largest net exporter of energy.
