Summary

Indonesia has abundant renewable energy resources, with the third-largest geothermal resources in the world and strong potential in terms of biomass, solar, and wind. The government intends to develop and use these resources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable energy development is currently regulated by Presidential Decree No.5/2006 of the national energy policy, which states that new and renewable energy should account for 17% of the national primary energy mix by 2025. However, Indonesia has yet to develop Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) for wind energy. Currently, five wind power projects are expected to come online in the near future.
